Aims

 

 

To improve the ability of the Chartered Physiotherapist to apply effective exercise therapy based on the available scientific evidence.

 

 


 

Objectives

 

 

To provide a framework for the Undergraduate Curriculum in order to ensure that all newly qualified Chartered Physiotherapists can safely and effectively apply exercise therapy.

 


 

 

To promote the Chartered Physiotherapist as being uniquely qualified and experienced in the examination, assessment and diagnosis of patients with physical impairments and functional limitations and the resulting clinical application and modification of exercise therapy for the treatment and management of disease, injury and movement dysfunction.

 

 


 

 

To act as an intermediary for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy to ensure the appropriate consultation of expertise relevant to exercise therapy for specific patient populations.

 

 

 


 

 

To liase and collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team involved in delivering exercise therapy as a component of rehabilitation from disease, injury and movement dysfunction.

 


 

 

 

To facilitate continuing professional development in the form of educational courses, seminars and study days in order to improve the application of exercise therapy by all members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

 


 

 

To raise the profile of the role of the Chartered Physiotherapist in the promotion of health and fitness and the prevention of disease, injury and movement dysfunction.

 

 


 

 

To act in an advisory role for all public, professional and training bodies interested in applying exercise therapy for the prevention and rehabilitation of disease, injury and movement dysfunction.

 


 

 

To influence policy decisions regarding exercise therapy provision at a local and national level.

 

 


 

 

To ensure representation as stakeholders in the development and review of local and national policy for public exercise initiatives.
